Christmas is coming … What I love about Christmas is all this ‘decorating madness’.
Very likely I’ll follow this craziness and this is not my only xmas-related post this year.. We’ll see …
Meanwhile enjoy my simple patterns (Photoshop and Illustrator pattern swatches). I doodled the trees and then live-traced them in Adobe Illustrator.
(Yes, I know, the Live Trace technique is rather depreciated … well … I don’t use it a lot but frankly each time I do – it’s so much fun).
All patterns are created on transparent background so that you could be more flexible with them.

Doodling is relaxing.. This time I doodled with my Wacom tablet. Honestly, pen and paper work much better for me but gathering my doodles as vectors – that’s tempting… Converting them into Photoshop patterns – ‘just give me a second’. Plus, I can share them with my visitors.
This time 7 Photoshop patterns (original tile size 450px x 375px or 450px x 450px), and 8 Adobe Illustrator pattern swatches. Feel free to use them in your personal and commercial projects. Below few color variants:

Among all other attempts to reinvent my-professional-self (or less dramatically: to broaden (=shift) my area of interest) I attend drawing lessons. Recently a TREE has been the key element. That inspired me to doodle some trees to be used as Photoshop brushes. Doodling was mine (with pencil and paper changed for my new shiny Wacom tablet) but the trees drawing ideas were borrowed from my professor Jurek Potyrala (and yes, I asked for his consent). So that’s the explanation for the borrowed and the blue can be found on the preview below (plus it’s Placebo every me and every you in my ears). The pack contains 6 trees, all in hi-res (about 2500 px), free for personal and commercial use.
The preview illustration was fully created in Adobe Illustrator CS4.

This was my first (mission accomplished) adventure with fonts. If only I liked my handwriting I would immediately turn it into font too. But so I don’t. I even came up with a trick so that it looks fancier: I write each letter in the opposite direction from what I’m used to. And sometimes it works.
… But anyway, there is a great (easy, fast and free) way to create your own handwriting font. Or you can make a doodle font as I did (if you like them feel free to download and use).

And here is the precious link to where you can make your own font. You simply download a template, print it, fill in, scan and upload back. There is also a possibility to include special characters. (I did not – I decided to boycott them ;)).

Today, I discovered there is an artist I can recognize by a tiny sample of his work.  I followed a tweet ‘focus on creating with negative space, while doodling…’ and there I was, taking an IllustrationClass. Created by Von. R. Glitschka (that’s the one). The idea was to fill some simple abstract shapes with whatever your imagination prompts.

He said: ‘be creative, push yourself and have fun’ .

I did: relaxed and doodled a bit (on a print of an exercise sheet).
